The Resident Calendar was created to do something simple but important: keep people informed and help build a stronger sense of community across HACA properties. I designed it with that in mind, making sure it wasn’t just a calendar, but something that felt useful, thoughtful, and welcoming.
Each page combined clear updates and local resources with a mix of graphic elements and real photos. I wanted it to feel approachable and reflective of the residents it was made for, so I leaned into a mixed-media style that gave it more personality and warmth. The calendar included things like community events, important deadlines, and tips that felt practical but personal. My goal was to make something residents would actually want to keep up on their wall.
We printed and distributed 2,000 copies across all properties, and the response was incredibly positive. The calendar ended up winning a NAHRO award for Best Print Publication in 2025, which was a great honor. More than that, it was a reminder that thoughtful design can play a real role in helping people feel more connected to where they live.
